A BRIGHT SPOT IN EVERY CHILD’S DAY
WEEK 8 ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS
START YOUR WEEK WITH ART!
Welcome to week eight of our new weekly artist video series – Arts Connection! We are on a mission to have our talented YA Teaching Artists continue to be a BRIGHT SPOT in every child’s day!
Every Monday we’ll be sharing our extraordinary teaching artists in action so children across the region can stay CONNECTED to and INSPIRED by the arts while learning remotely.
We encourage you to share these interactive video performances with the students, educators, and families in your school community.
Celebrate with YA artist group, The Seventh Principle, the unique ability of dance to bring people together from around the world. Through a high-energy fusion of percussive dance, traditional music, and call-and-response, this program demonstrates both traditional West African and modern African-American dance while teaching about the respective cultures on both sides of the Atlantic.
LEARNING GOALS
Students will:
☀️Experience positive images from an African cultural and historical perspective.
☀️Be encouraged to love and understand themselves and to love and understand others.

This multimedia presentation transforms sound with a five-string electric violin and a myriad of modern technology. Students journey from Bach’s classics to today’s techno-wonders. Through modern techniques of music production and unique soundscapes, students learn the scientific concepts and art involved in the creation of live music. Three-dimensional sound waves become visible, bringing music to life before the audience’s very eyes— and ears!
LEARNING GOALS
Students will:
☀️Understand how science and art can interact to create something new.
☀️Be exposed to the technology of sound looping and sound effects.
