Between the World and Me
Artist: Josh Campbell
Type: Workshops / Residencies
Description
Rooted in the hip hop aesthetic and break beat poet tradition, this Josh Campbell workshop explores the intersection of identity, culture, history, and current events through a series of improvisational theatre and acting exercises that lead students to create original spoken word poems, monologues, one minute scenes, and plays to deepen their understanding of social justice, who they are, where they come from, and their relationship to the world around them (including the source text they are reading). This workshop focuses on expanding students public speaking skills, text analysis skills, and deepening their level of empathy.
