Young Audiences Arts for Learning New Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania’s (YA) mission is to inspire young people and expand their learning through the arts. YA’s professional teaching artists deliver residencies, workshops, performances, teacher professional learning, and family programs to PK-12th grade students, their teachers, and their families. 

Since its founding in 1973, YA has grown into the region’s most comprehensive arts in education organization. In a typical year, YA programs reach approximately 350,000 students in our region.  In March of 2020, YA began offering programs and services through virtual platforms. YA is continuing to provide programs in all schooling formats including in person, and virtual.

Position Summary—Marketing Manager 

Young Audiences seeks a creative and results-oriented marketing professional to advance YA’s work and to build business. The Marketing Manager is an exciting growth opportunity for a marketing professional who will develop and execute marketing strategies to advance YA’s recovery from the pandemic. Due to the staff size and capacity, the Marketing Manager toggles between developing and envisioning strategy, and hands-on implementation.  The successful candidate is an excellent communicator and team player, can operate independently when needed, and is also energized by productive collaboration.  

The Marketing Manager will be able to review and synthesize results from email campaigns, sales results, google analytics and social media analytics and will adjust strategies and resources accordingly. The Marketing Manager reports to the President & CEO and works collaboratively with Programming, Artist Services and Social Media personnel.   

Key Responsibilities 

Sales-Focused Marketing: (70%) 

Plan and execute digital and print marketing strategies to support sales goals, addressing key stakeholder groups with distinct messaging to suit their needs.   


  • Lead conceptualization, creation, printing and distribution of YA Program Guide, postcards, and brochures and other branded materials, working with outside designer. 
  • Design small print pieces needed to support marketing and development efforts. 

Email & Web-based marketing 

  • Oversee all email marketing initiatives and schedules  
  • Create all email marketing templates with support from designer. 
  • Manage email lists, both customer database and purchased lists. 


  • Manage and implement simple updates to content and design of WordPress website 
  • Assess accessibility and implement necessary updates to provide most accessibility possible. 
  • Direct implementation and campaign management of Google AdWords account. 
  • Identify opportunities and manage creative process and scheduling of digital ads. 
  • Determine needs for updates to design, functionality, and SEO to increase traffic and capture leads. 

Social Media 

  • Develop strategy and create content across all YA social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), with social media consultant 
  • Follow, support and engage with stakeholders (educators, arts education organizations, clients, etc.) on social media. 
  • Manage all targeted Facebook advertising, campaigns, and post boosts. 
  • Continuously track and analyze social media engagement. 

Photography & Video Production 

  • Manage photography and video for marketing, institutional, and documentation purposes. 

Marketing/Sales Event Planning: (10%) 

  • Work with programming team, and artist services manager to plan and execute a successful Artist Showcase in PA and NJ, or virtually. 
  • Manage YA sales-focused events, in-person and virtually, as needed. 
  • Assess possibilities for attending stakeholder conferences and in person convenings; create marketing strategy accordingly  

Public Relations: (10%) 

Direct public relations strategy, press relations, news releases, targeted pitches, and special events to promote awareness of YA.  

  • Create and distribute all press releases. 
  • Monitor, share and archive all YA related press hits.  
  • Pitch and find opportunities to share relevant news stories about YA and arts education 
  • Work with the senior leadership and outside consultants to establish and reinforce an institutional identity and brand.  
  • Lead special projects related to sales and marketing. 

Contribute to YA Initiatives (10%) 

  • Participate in organization-wide efforts to assess quality and impact of programming. 
  • Participate in Young Audiences’ ongoing efforts to improve in relation to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, according to YA’s Arts United Plan. 
  • Participate in Young Audiences’ fundraising events and other initiatives as needed. 


  • 3 years’ experience in marketing arts, or educational programs or services. Track record of increased engagement and sales growth preferred. 
  • Experience integrating anti-bias, anti-oppression, anti-racist practices into marketing preferred. 
  • Experience synthesizing analytics, stats and sales results to inform marketing strategy

Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through all mediums, including writing marketing copy, press releases, and social media content. 

Collaboration: Eagerness to work with others and share resources in a supportive work environment where creative collaboration and shared learning are highly valued. 

Fluency with Technology: Demonstrated ability to work fluidly with technology including MS Office Suite, WordPress, Constant Contact, Google Docs, Zoom, and Canva. Familiarity with photo and video editing preferred.  

Organization and planning: Attention to detail, time management, strong organization skills, and a commitment to complete tasks in accordance with project timelines. 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: Low to Mid $50’s

Additional Information 

YA office hours are 8:30-4:30, M-F. YA is primarily working remotely at this time, with plans to return to a hybrid work environment involving in person work in our Princeton office.  The ability to travel to schools and events within our service region of New Jersey and Eastern PA is required. Mileage is reimbursed.
