Welcome to week three of our new weekly artist video series – Arts Connection! We are on a mission to have our talented YA Teaching Artists continue to be a BRIGHT SPOT in every child’s day!
Every Monday we’ll be sharing our extraordinary teaching artists in action so children across the region can stay CONNECTED to and INSPIRED by the arts while learning remotely.
We encourage you to share these interactive video performances with the students, educators, and families in your school community.
Dance China New York
Spectacular athleticism one moment, pure grace and precision the next. This introduction to Chinese culture and dance is performed in full, traditional Chinese costumes. The video features the “Warrior Dance,” the “Chopsticks Dance,” and culminates with the rousing “Red Ribbon Dance,” a regular feature of Chinese national holidays and celebrations. Students learn how to say “hello” in Chinese in this vibrant introduction to Chinese culture.
LEARNING GOALS
Students will:
☀️Be introduced to traditional Chinese dances
☀️Be exposed to the skill and technique involved in performing various traditional dances of China
☀️Learn how to say hello in Chinese

David Gonzalez
Animals come alive in this fast-paced performance that teaches children about kindness and friendship. Featuring the story “The Lion and the Mouse, this piece from ”Aesop’s Bops has ample amounts of audience participation and offers positive lessons for social and psychological growth.
LEARNING GOALS
Students will:
☀️Listen to the classic Aesop’s Fable, “The Lion and the Mouse”
☀️Actively participate in David Gonzalez’s recitation of the classic story
☀️Learn the lesson that every act of kindness is worthwhile
